The new york times has an enlightening article on blackwater, no its not the hip new drink in Africa, its an American business that was granted a government contract to help keep things 'secure' in Iraq.
'Self-defense, survival, and firearms training for citizens and law enforcement', says their Google tag. sounds real redneck but not so bad. Their "Vision": To support security, peace, freedom and democracy every where. sounds even better! makes you wanna have their love child right?
Well . . . actually they're they most violent and destructive security force in Iraq right now. in fact 2 times more violent and prone to incident than any other when guarding American diplomats. as of now, they are responsible for wounding 15 Iraqis and killing 10, all civilians. which just makes the Iraqis resent us even more. and guess what? since we're never leaving Iraq, neither will they. Blackwater is a privately owned company. "Most of its nearly 1,000 people in Iraq are independent contractors, rather than employees of the company, according to a spokeswoman, Anne Tyrrell. Blackwater has a total of about 550 full-time employees, the [?] she said."
and
"Its diplomatic security contract with the State Department is now the company’s largest, Ms. Tyrrell said, while declining to provide the dollar amount."
Their contracts are in the billion(s). minus expenses; missles, tanks, bullet proof vests, butt plugs, lube, military boots... in the end those 550 people who are full timers are making bank. then the money goes from blackwater (well only after they buy new curtains and a dust ruffle for their gigantic mansion and put a little away for jr's education) the rest of it goes right back to the government.
"The company’s close ties to the Bush administration have raised questions about the political clout of Mr. Prince, Blackwater’s founder and owner. He is the scion of a wealthy Michigan family that is active in Republican politics. He and the family have given more than $325,000 in political donations over the past 10 years, the vast majority to Republican candidates and party committees, according to federal campaign finance reports." and thats just what has been reported im sure. it takes a lot of money to change legislators and legislation im sure. how are they getting away with this? people [ie george bush's friends] need to stop making money off of war. shouldn't this be illegal? who regulates government contracting? is it time for a new president yet?
- File this one under 'politicians who love cock'. Senator Larry Craig, a republican from Idaho, was arrested on June 11th for 'lewd behavior' in a men's restroom at the Minneapolis-St.Paul International Airport. In the way of great cover ups this isn't making the news till now, as he quit his job yesterday on Mit Romney's presidential crazy train.
"According to Roll Call, the arresting officer alleged that Craig
lingered outside a restroom stall where the officer was sitting, then
entered the stall next door and blocked the door with his luggage.
According to the arrest report cited by Roll Call, Craig tapped his right foot, which the officer said he recognized "as a signal used by persons wishing to engage in lewd conduct."
The report alleges Craig then touched the officer's foot with his foot and the senator "proceeded to swipe his hand under the stall divider several times," according to Roll Call.
At that point, the officer said he put his police identification down by the floor so Craig could see it and informed the senator that he was under arrest, before any sexual contact took place."
What is with these people? Why are they so fucking dumb? I mean seriously, at least Ted Haggard was smart enough to get a freakin hotel room to get/smoke his rocks off. And for someone who claims no wrong doing whatsoever, just like Bob Allen, how are these guys so wise to the behaviors, movements, and signals of male bathroom cruising?!? Mr. Craig will likely get off, of serving any sentence, you perv. But if he did go to jail, he should share a cell with Mr Allen. Maybe like Faggard, they'd turn each other 'straight.' 2007 is the year of the undercover cock. [source]
